Blessings and peace to you, dear ones!

Jesus said, “I am the bread of life.”

Last week (8/04), the Gospel lesson reminded us that, in addition to taking care of our physical needs, God also makes provision for our spiritual needs. This Sunday (8/11), join us at 9:30 am for the celebration of Morning Prayer led by Tom Keenze and Ron Parker.

    Christian Formation: Spiritual Gifts

***Note: We will NOT have Sunday School this week (8/11).***

Beginning August 18, our focus in Sunday School will be on Spiritual Gifts. We’ll find out what they are, how you can discover which of these gifts you have, and how you can put them to practical use.

    Time Change Poll

We are considering a new time for Christian Formation and Holy Eucharist and we would like your input. If you have not had the opportunity to cast your vote already, surveys will be available this coming Sunday on the table at the back of the nave. If you are unable to vote in person, please send an email to Clergy@stpaulsclaremore.org  no later than Friday, August 16. Here are the questions; when you reply, simply indicate the number and your answer (no need to rewrite the question).

    1. Are you interested in participating in Christian Formation (a.k.a. Sunday School)? Answer: Yes/No
    2. If so, what time would you like these formation classes to begin? Answer: Keep it the same – at 8:30 am; Change to 9:00 am; Change to 9:15 am; Change to 9:30 am; Other (please indicate)
    3. What time would you prefer Sunday morning Holy Eucharist to begin Answer: Keep it the same – at 9:30 am; Change to 10:00 am; Change to 10:15 am; Change to 10:30 am; Other (please indicate)

    Big Tent Day at RSU

It’s that time of year again. RSU’s Big Tent Day will take place on Wednesday, August 21, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. If you are interested in helping out at this event – even if you are only available for a short shift – please notify Shelby Mancell, Kaitlyn Rodwell, or Ron Parker.

    Let Us Pray

    • For the safety of our parishioners as they travel throughout the last of this summer season
    • That our parishioners will exemplify God’s peace during this time when so much religious, social, and political unrest plagues our community, nation, and world
    • For the success of Big Tent Day at RSU
    • For all students and school personnel as they return to school
    • For the victims of the war in Ukraine

    Peace to you, my friends!

Jesus said, “I am the bread of life.”

Last week (7/28), we looked at a couple of instances in scripture when people were frightened or anxious; but were reminded that God is always present, taking care of our needs, and reassuring us of his love and provision. The Gospel lesson for this Sunday (8/04) reminds us that in addition to taking care of our physical needs, God also makes provision for our spiritual needs. Join us at 9:30 am for the celebration of Holy Eucharist.

    Who is Jesus to you?

Last week (6/23), we joined the disciples of Jesus as they asked in amazement, “Who is this that even the wind and the waves obey him?” Even though they had spent countless hours with the man already, they were still making new and astounding discoveries about who Jesus was. Likewise, our life journeys take us along pathways which allow the many powers, wonders, and characteristics of God to be revealed to us every day.

Please join us for worship this Sunday (6/30) at 9:30 a.m., as we look more intently at God’s faithfulness to us in our everyday lives.

    Vicar Plans Vacation

Sunday, July 7, the vicar will be on vacation; but we will still have worship at 9:30 a.m. by observing the Daily Office of Morning Prayer. Tom, Ron, Shelby, and Kaitlyn will lead this service; so, don’t miss the opportunity to participate in one of our oldest and most beloved traditions.

Greetings, Friends; and Happy Father’s Day (almost)!

    Did you know…?

    • On July 5, 1908, a West Virginia church sponsored the nation’s first event explicitly in honor of fathers, a Sunday sermon in memory of the 362 men who had died in the previous December’s explosions at the Fairmont Coal Company mines in Monongah, but it was a one-time commemoration and not an annual holiday.
    • The nation’s first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington. However, it was not until 1972 that the day honoring fathers became a nationwide holiday in the United States.
    • In the U.S., we celebrate Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June; but in other countries–especially in Europe and Latin America–fathers are honored on St. Joseph’s Day, a traditional Catholic holiday that falls on March 19.

I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it

Last week (6/09), we heard about some of the struggles Jesus faced in his life of ministry, and we talked about who may obtain membership in the family of Christ (hint: “Whoever” – that includes you and me).

Please join us for worship this Sunday (6/16) at 9:30 a.m., when we will discuss some of the ways in which everything is topsy-turvy in the Kin-dom of God.

    Hello, Dear Friends!

I hope this letter finds you well, and that you have all recovered somewhat from our recent weather disasters. Here’s a look at what’s coming soon at St. Paul’s.

A Grain of Wheat, A Withered Hand, and Clay Jars

Last week (6/02), we heard what a grain of wheat, a withered hand, and clay jars have in common by reviewing some of the ways in which Jesus began to break through the rigid barriers of tradition to allow the will of God to be accomplished – that all should know the love of Christ. We were also reminded that we, though we be imperfect and fragile like jars of clay, carry this treasure of the Gospel of Christ’s love within us. Indeed, knowing our weaknesses, God still intentionally chose to grant us this gift. What an amazing privilege!

Please join us for worship this Sunday (6/09) at 9:30 a.m. We’ll hear more about the struggles Jesus faced in his life of ministry, and about who may obtain membership in the family of Christ.

    Greetings, One and All!

I was pleased to hear from many of you that you survived last weekend’s tornado without physical injuries or structural damage to your homes. I hope that, by now, you have also managed to clean up the destruction to your yards, and that your electricity has been restored.

Several of us gathered at the church property on Monday morning to clean up the carnage there. While there, we experienced an unexpected blessing: the appearance of three Good Samaritans who helped with much of the work and hauling away of debris. These were not people we knew; but they saw us out working and simply offered to help. I believe we may have entertained angels in human clothing! May God bless them!

A Grain of Wheat, A Withered Hand, and Clay Jars

Last week (5/26) Trinity Sunday services were cancelled due to the aftereffects of the tornado. As of yesterday afternoon, power had not been restored at the church; but we know that the electric companies are working diligently to get everything back up and running. As such, if we still have no power this Sunday (6/02), we may worship al fresco; but we will have service nonetheless!

Please join us for worship at 9:30 a.m. We’ll hear about what a grain of wheat, a withered hand, and clay jars have in common.
