About the Community Warming Shelter

The Community Warming Shelter at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is an emergency winter shelter program administered by the church’s outreach ministry. The shelter exists to provide a safe, warm, indoor environment for individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity during periods of extreme winter weather. This ministry is grounded in the Episcopal Church’s Baptismal Covenant to seek and serve Christ in all persons and to respect the dignity of every human being.

The shelter operates as a low-barrier warming shelter and operates between November 1 and March 31, activating during periods of below-freezing temperatures and winter precipitation, or other severe weather conditions.

While the shelter is active, guests have access to:

  • Warm indoor sleeping space
  • Hot meals and beverages
  • Blankets, hats, socks, and other cold-weather items
  • Basic first-aid supplies
(All items are based on available donations.)

As a low-barrier shelter, we welcome anyone seeking safety from the cold, provided they are able to follow the shelter’s basic guidelines designed to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Shelter Guidelines (When Active)

  • Be respectful of other guests, volunteers, and staff
  • Follow instructions given by shelter volunteers
  • Supervise personal belongings and pets
  • Maintain a shared, safe, and calm environment
