St. Paul’s Newsletter – 4 September 2025

Hello, Everyone; and happy September! 🍂

I hope you all enjoyed a fun and relaxing Labor Day!

Last Sunday (8/31), we created the sermon together based upon parts of the responsive Psalm (Sing with joy to God our strength and raise a loud shout to the God of Jacob.) and the second lesson from Hebrews (let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.) Each of you shared a favorite passage of scripture and told us a little of why it is meaningful to you. It was amazing to witness the Holy Spirit at work – both in your lives, and in the service itself. I love that each of your passages dovetailed with the others, and the ways in which the hymns correlated as well. God is good, all the time!.

This Sunday (9/07), we’ll discuss ways in which God takes things that are seemingly broken or ruined beyond repair, and turns them into something beautiful and meaningful. Did I mention that God is good? That’s All. The. Time! Join us at 10:00am for Holy Eucharist, followed by coffee hour.

God Didn’t Make Us to Hate Us

Tuesday, September 16, at 7:00 pm, we will begin an 6-week discussion group on the topic of church hurt, utilizing the book God Didn’t Make Us to Hate Us by The Rev. Lizzie McManus-Dail. This will be a great way to learn how we can listen to and support our neighbors who have had painful experiences with the Church in the past, so we are all encouraged to attend. Books for this discussion group will be provided; but be sure to let Ron Parker, who will be leading the group, know that you wish to participate.

Classroom Needs

Kudos to you, dear people of St. Paul’s!!! You were asked to help provide supplies to Christina, our “ambassador” to the students, and you have taken that task seriously and joyfully! Currently, the wish list is still the same: good quality No. 2 pencils, Post-it note pads, and Kleenex. So, keep up the good work; the next time you’re doing a little shopping, pick up one or two of these items, then bring them to church to donate.

Let Us Pray

  • For all students, faculty, and staff, especially Christina and Shelby
  • That the 6-week book discussion on church hurt will prove successful and beneficial to all involved
  • That our parishioners will exemplify God’s love and peace during this time when so much religious, social, and political unrest plagues our community, nation, and world
  • For all individuals living in fear due to new executive orders and mandates being imposed
  • For Ukraine and Russia
