St. Paul’s Newsletter – 3 July 2025

Happy (almost) 4th of July, Everyone! I hope you are all having a safe and fun holiday weekend.

Last Sunday, June 29, we, once again, joined forces with Mt. Zion Baptist Church for another progressive service. The first part of our service began in the nave of St. Paul’s where we worshiped Episcopal style and heard an exciting message from Pastor James Coulter reminding us that God does not look at the outer appearance but at the heart (I Samuel 16:7). Then we progressed to the Mt. Zion sanctuary for the second half of the service where we worshiped Mt. Zion style and heard a message from Rev. Nancy about following God’s call (I Kings 19).

This Sunday, July 6, we begin a sermon series, the theme of which is “taste and see that the Lord is good.” This theme will continue throughout the entire month.

Christian Formation: Summer Yoga with the Psalms

This week’s meditative prompt (July3): Psalm 85

Our yoga sessions have been a wonderful way to unwind at the end of the day and to give ourselves time to meditate on God’s word. If you haven’t had a chance to attend yet, it’s not too late. Come on out this evening at 7:00pm! No yoga mat? No problem! The instructors bring extras.

As a reminder, these classes are FREE and open to the entire community, though we are collecting donations for Meals on Wheels.

Readings for Week 6 (beginning July 6)

  • Track 1 – Psalms 95, 98, 102, 105, 108, 113, 116
  • Track 2 – Psalms 95-118

Meals on Wheels Needs Volunteers

Substitute Drivers:

This job is simple and does not require a lot of time. Meals are delivered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Drivers meet at the building to collect the groceries at about 9:45am, and are finished making deliveries by around 11:00am.

Kitchen Help:

For this job, you must have a food handlers permit from the Health Department to assist in preparing the meals before delivery.

If you, or anyone you know, is available to serve in either of these positions, please let Rev. Nancy know, or contact Jo or Linda at Meals on Wheels (jmmvww@gmail.com).
