    Greetings, Church Family!

    Thanksgiving Pot Luck

The annual Thanksgiving Pot Luck is just around the corner, and we have much for which we are grateful. Sunday, November 24, we will celebrate Morning Prayer, and then the feasting begins! Be sure to be on the look-out for a sign-up sheet this coming Sunday. Come one, come all, and bring a friend or family member. We have some of the best cooks in Claremore at St. Paul’s so you do not want to miss this joyous occasion!

Special Offering for Medical Debt Relief

Over the next several weeks, we will be collecting special funds to contribute to medical debt relief for local families. Medical debt has become a crippling burden to many in our country, and we have the opportunity to offer some relief to those within Rogers county. If you wish to contribute to this special project, simply designate your offerings as “medical debt relief.”

    Regional Advent Lessons and Carols

Advent is just around the corner, and your Northeast Clericus is busily planning a regional service to commemorate the occasion. The service will take place at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Grove (555 E 3rd St., Grove, OK) on December 8 at 4:00 pm, with tea and cookies to be served at 3:30 pm.

If you wish to serve as a lector or to participate in a communal choir for the event, let Rev. Nancy know.

If you prefer to simply participate as a member of the congregation, come along and bring a friend! Everyone from across the entire Northeast region is invited to attend!

    Let Us Pray

    • That our parishioners will exemplify God’s peace during this time when so much religious, social, and political unrest plagues our community, nation, and world
    • That the sparks that the Holy Spirit has started over the past couple of months will continue to spread like wildfire within our congregation and throughout all of the Claremore community
    • For the victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton and for the clean-up crews
    • For all students and school personnel

A House of Prayer for all People

In Isaiah 56:7, God says, “My house shall be a house of prayer for all people,” a statement echoed by Jesus in Matthew 21:13. Perhaps, in the wake of the recent elections, you are feeling celebratory. Or perhaps you are feeling confused, scared, and worried. Maybe you simply feel numb or indifferent. Whatever your state of mind, if you or someone you know could use a quiet, safe space for prayer and contemplation, St. Paul’s will be open from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm tonight (Thursday, 11/07) and tomorrow night (Friday, 11/08). All are invited to step in for a few moments of peace.

    All Saints Memory Table

During our All Hallowtide celebrations this year, we have set up a memory table in the Fellowship Hall to remember and honor our family and friends who, although departed from this life, live on in our hearts and minds. Be sure to check out the wonderful pictures on display on the table, which will remain up until November 10th. (Those who have contributed pictures to the display are reminded to collect them after service this Sunday, 11/10.)

    Greetings, dear friends!

    Trunk or Treat

Last Saturday, October 26, we joined with First Christian Church and Grace United Methodist Church to provide a safe trick-or-treat experience for local children. For our contribution we provided a trunk containing candy and books for children and young adults. Barry Clark from FCC was there and he informed us that there were over 300 kiddos who attended the event. Speaking of treats – what a joy it was to be a part of making the children and families of our community aware that they are loved!

    Sound System Updates

Over the next few weeks, you may notice some changes to our sound system. Danny and Rick are working diligently to improve the quality of our music and sound. As such, you may notice the appearance of new speakers; but you may also hear some strange sounds that occur during the services while all the “bugs” are being worked out. In the end, this should result in a much-improved sound experience here at St. Paul’s. Many thanks to Danny and Rick for taking on this project!

    Hello, One and All!

    Trunk or Treat this Saturday

THIS Saturday, October 26, the folks at First Christian Church (1010 N Florence Ave) are hosting their annual Trunk or Treat from 2-4 pm, and we have been invited to participate. Our contribution will be one trunk containing candy and books for children and young adults. If you would like to don a costume (optional) and help us at the event, you can bring a bag of candy or a book or two to add to our collection (be sure to come a little early so we’re all set up and ready to greet the kiddos at 2). This promises to be a super fun way to collaborate with our dear friends from FCC to serve our community!

Mobile Food Pantry a Rousing Success

Our first collaborative effort with Grace United Methodist Church to provide a site for their mobile food pantry took place on the evening of Wednesday, October 23, and was hugely successful! Folks from both congregations served as volunteers to help members of our nearby neighborhoods “shop” for much needed grocery items. It was estimated that we served approximately 80 people during the three hours of operation.

Stay tuned for future opportunities to continue in this exciting and fun collaboration.

All Saints Day List & Memory Table

During our All Hallowtide celebrations this year, we will have a form next to the weekly bulletins where you can add the names of family and friends to be recognized during our All-Saints day service on November 3rd. In addition to this annual tradition, we will be doing something new this year. We will be setting up a memory table in the Fellowship Hall to remember and honor our family and friends who, although departed from this life, live on in our hearts and minds. If you would like to participate, please bring a photo and place it on the table. The table will be set up this weekend and will remain until November 10th. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ron Parker.

As of Sunday, October 6, our new service times are in full swing. We hope you’ll join us soon!

Correction to our Prayers of the People

Your vicar wishes to correct previously printed errors concerning certain people listed in our Prayers of the People. Last week, you were asked to pray for Tony, and for the repose of Traci. Actually, Traci is very much alive – having survived a successful cancer operation. She would still appreciate our prayers for her continued recovery. It is, however, for the repose of Tony that we should be praying. Tony, Rick’s brother, passed away on September 21. Rick did inform me about both individuals; but when I updated the prayer list, I confused the information. Mea culpa!!! Please forgive the confusion!

    Let Us Pray

    • That the sparks that the Holy Spirit has started over the past few weeks will spread like wildfire within our congregation and throughout all of the Claremore community

Greetings, and Autumn blessings to each of you!

These last few weeks have been exceptionally exciting – almost as if we have been in a season of revival (without actually planning one). I hope this excitement about what the Holy Spirit is doing in our midst is contagious, and that you have caught the “bug”!

    Ecumenical Communion and Pot Luck

Last Sunday, several of us participated in the Pot Luck Luncheon & Ecumenical Communion at Grace United Methodist Church. In all, five different congregations from all different denominations joined to break bread together. The food was fantastic! In addition to many other offerings, the folks from the Indian Missionary Congregation brought fry bread, and it turns out that Pastor Tim makes a mean jambalaya.

In an effort to make the eucharist welcoming to all who attended, the host was offered in the form of bread and in the form of wafers; wine and grape juice were available; and, for those who preferred them, small individual cups were provided.

The event opened with prayer and announcements by Pastor Tim of Grace UMC, then time was allotted for leaders from each congregation to share about current and upcoming events and ministry opportunities. Finally, Pastor Coulter of Mt. Zion Baptist offered the closing benediction.

Afterwards, as we cleaned up, Pastor Tim could be heard singing, “I’m walkin’ on sunshine!”

  • St. Paul’s Newsletter – 3 October 2024

    Hello, All, and happy October!

I don’t know about you, but the excitement of the past two Sundays combined with the anticipation of this coming Sunday’s festivities have your vicar positively giddy! First, we celebrated the confirmations of three of our valued members on September 22. Then, what a joy and an honor it was to worship with Pastor Coulter and the people of Mt. Zion Baptist Church last Sunday. Finally, we look forward to this coming Sunday and the ecumenical communion and luncheon with several congregations from the Claremore area.

We Don’t Get to Choose Whom God Uses

Pastor Coulter’s sermon, drawn from Luke 9:49-50 (a parallel to our Gospel lesson for the day – Mark 9:38-40), was a rousing reminder that we don’t get to choose whom God uses; that choice belongs solely to God. Rather than criticizing or complaining about others through whom God is working, he reminded us of the importance of working together in the unity of Christ. Along those lines, Pastor Coulter had “two ‘don’ts’ and one ‘do’ and then he was through.”

    1. Don’t ever jump to assumptions based on preconceived notions.
    2. Don’t be jealous of the accomplishments of others.
    3. Do join together in unity to advance God’s kingdom here on earth.

Following Holy Eucharist at St. Paul’s, several of us traveled to Mt. Zion to share together in that worship service wherein Rev. Nancy based her sermon on Jeremiah 29:4-9 and Isaiah 6:1-9 and spoke about answering God’s call. The reminders were that all believers have a calling from God whether to ordained ministry or otherwise, and the challenge is to listen for that call and answer, “Yes. Here I am, Lord, send me.”

Many who attended these services expressed a desire to plan more similar events in the future. How good it is to be a part of the family of God!

October 6: New Service Times & Ecumenical Communion and Pot Luck

Beginning this Sunday (10/06), our new times will be as follows:

Christian Formation (aka Sunday School) @ 9:00 am

    Holy Eucharist @ 10:00 am

In addition to the time changes, we will also participate in the Pot Luck Luncheon & Ecumenical Communion at Grace United Methodist Church (9472 Hwy 20, Claremore) @ Noon. Greetings and salutations, Everyone!

What a marvelous celebration we had last Sunday as we watched Cindi, Danny, and Ron being confirmed! And the next two Sundays promise to be equally exciting. The blessings of the Lord are new every morning! Hallelujah!

Guest Speaker, Rev. James Coulter to preach on September 29

This coming Sunday (9/29), Pastor James D. Coulter of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, will participate in a pulpit swap/share with The Reverend Nancy. The members of Mt. Zion have been invited to join us at St. Paul’s for coffee and donuts beginning at 8:30, after which we will celebrate Holy Eucharist together and hear a sermon from Pastor Coulter. After Eucharist, Pastor Coulter has invited us to join him and his congregation at Mt. Zion for their 11:00 service wherein Rev. Nancy will preach. This offers an exciting opportunity for us to cross denominational, ethnic, gender, and generational boundaries which can so often be divisive, and to focus instead on our shared love and faith in Christ! Be on the lookout for an article about this event in the Claremore newspaper. ***No Christian Formation class this day.***

    Greetings, dear ones!

    Be doers of the word

Last week (9/08), we heard some practical ways we can be doers of the word. This Sunday (9/15), join us at 9:30 am as we celebrate Holy Eucharist and learn how being a doer of the word is related to taking up your cross.

    Christian Formation

Last Sunday (9/08), we began scoring our Spiritual Gifts inventories. This week (9/15) at 8:30 am, our journey to discover our spiritual gifts continues. During this course of study, we’ll find out what the gifts are, how you can discover which of these gifts you have, and how you can put them to practical use. You are invited to join us on this exciting journey.
